Digital Magnetometer Calibration with Backup Analog Mini

I'm curious how to go about this. I have HXr with adaptive ahrs attached to the digital mag. Also have Mini-AP with it's own analog mag.

I'm guessing I want to keep the calibrations separate, so in a power failure the mini-ap will still work standalone. Does the analog mag have all the fancy self leveling features of the digital mag?
When i boot up the devices, they say the mag calibrations are out of sync between the HXr and Mini.

I don't understand completely the process. If i sync them up, does the digital mag rule both the adaptive and Mini ? Then if it fails, the Mini falls back to the analog mag?

The Mini-AP AHRS is the equivalent of an Adaptive AHRS and it only works with a digital magnetometer. If it's working, it can't be an analog magnetometer. The AHRS and magnetometer for the Mini have the same roll and pitch orientation adjustments. You need to set the orientations first and then do the magnetometer calibration separately. You can start both calibration modes at the same time.

You can ignore the calibration sync message. This is meant for a shared magnetometer, meaning one magnetometer provides data to more than one AHRS. We recently found a mistake in the software for the magnetometers that causes separate magnetometers to be identified as shared. Separate magnetometers should not be synchronized and we will have an update for the display software in the near future. Until then you may want to turn off the display link while you're calibrating each magnetometer to prevent the data from synchronizing incorrectly, and then reboot both screens before turning the display link back on.

Ok that make sense. I was wondering why when I calibrated the Mini, it would overwrite the HXr. I looked in the display link's settings to stop the mag sharing, but never thought to turn it off completely when doing the calibrations. I'll do that this weekend.

I don't know why, I assumed the Mini-AP's mag was analog. The HXr manual describes its as digital and only needing 1 serial input. The Mini's manual never uses the word digital and shows having both Rx and Tx hooked up. I just assumed it was analog. Thanks for the clarification.
