Flight Recording

Post by Bayou Bert »

I was wondering if there is a program out there where I can look at a flight.
Not the engine stuff, I have learned to do that at Savvy Analysis, I'm talking about
the flight stuff, airspeed, altitude etc on a chart.
Thanks for any suggestions.

If you use the recording function on your HXr (start it before takeoff; be sure to "save" prior to shut down), save it to a memory stick in the back of the GRT. Take the stick home, you can read it into Excel, plot whatever parameters you like.

If you're IFR or getting flight following, "Flight Aware" (google it) will recall ATC data, plot altitude and speed vs position for you.

Try www.cloudahoy.com .
Some pretty cool stuff!

Spent time with Chuck at AirVenture getting it to work with the GRT FDL files.

Works great.

BUT! A request is in to GRT to have the option of generating a separate FDL for each flight as opposed to a continuously appending to the file. During AV I had to extract the data for a separate flight. Chuck planned to look into how he might do the extraction but the easiest option would be the separate files.

Tell Chuck that the "won't give up" James sent you.

Has anyone used EISLog.exe to print data from a EIS recording? I can play it back USB recording on my EFIS, but my MAC will not let me open recording with EISLog.exe.

Thanks,

I use Decode from the GRT software page. Leave the txt file on your stick and let Decode make the XML file on the stick. Then use Excel to open the XML file with the style sheet to make the XLS file. It works fine and you can make graphs of data. Make graphs of different variables and then superimpose them to see what is happening.

You also can put the data on a Google map but I haven't tried that.
