Auto Pilot Offset To Flight Path

I have a Garmin 650, GRT Hx and GRT Auto Pilot all working together well so far. I programmed in a flight plan in the Garmin 650, once activated, the flight path is passed onto GRT Hx display. After activating the Auto Pilot, it will guide the plane nicely on track per flight plan/path. There are times, I need to fly the flight path with a slight offset (e.g. 1 mile or so parallel to the plan path). Is there a way to accomplished this in flight?

Not sure how to do exactly what you want. You could put the autopilot in heading mode, and try to keep it one or two dots off center, manually adjusting the heading every 5-10 minutes. You could also put the GTN into OBS mode, set a course 5 deg or so off from direct. That would let you fly an angular offset, not a constant 1 mile. My Trio Pro will do what you want, if I put it in stand-alone mode, decoupled from the EFIS.

The HX does not understand parallel/offset courses. You can enter an offset into a 650 using the Parallel Track flight plan function. I've never heard if this works correctly in ENAV mode. If you put the HX into LAT A/P GNAV mode, the 650 will generate the lateral autopilot commands and the HX will follow them even if they don't make sense to the HX.

Thank you Jeff for the guidance. I shall give it a try.
