Although the Mini-X and Mini-AP were highly popular, there were a few feature requests that we kept hearing over and over again. “Please make it so that it mounts in a standard 3-1/8″ hole” and “more serial ports please” to name a couple. In response to customer request, we have been in the process of re-designing the Mini to incorporate these changes as well as a few other refinements:
While the new Mini EFIS will mount in a 3-1/8″ hole, the bezel and screen size will remain unchanged. An thin adapter plate will be used so that installation may be completed without drilling or cutting the panel.
The price is yet to be determined, but like all of our products, the new Mini will be a great value for the price.
The new Mini is expected to become available Spring of 2024.
Congratulations to Scott McElroy for winning a 2022 Lindy Award plaque for Outstanding Workmanship on his beautiful Horizon HXr equipped RV-8, N332RT. It’s N-number, red tail and overall paint scheme pay tribute to the 332nd Fighter Group, also known as the Tuskegee Airmen.

This service bulletin is for the field repair of 10.1 series EFIS displays. This repair is an authorized customer installed modification. It requires approximately 10 minutes to complete. Contact GRT Avionics to receive modification parts free of charge. If you do not feel you have the ability to perform this modification, fill out a Service Request Form available on our website and send the EFIS to GRT Avionics. GRT Avionics will modify the EFIS and return the EFIS to the customer free of charge (ground shipping only).
It has come to our attention that some 10.1 series displays may have intermittent side row button functions.
All Horizon 10.1 and Sport 10.1 EFIS models with serial numbers between 3000 and 3140. Check your EFIS ID plate. If it has a hole thru the ID plate in the “Mods” section, where the “A” was or if the “A” is scribed out, your EFIS has already been modified and no further action is necessary.
The modification requires the installation of two insulating shims between the rear cover and main circuit board. This modification is known as “Mod A”.
Our offices will be closed on Thursday November 25, and Friday November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Sandy Bacon, well known to thousands of our customers as the voice of EIS support and sales, passed away on August 13, 2021. She joined the company as its second employee in 1994, and was a dedicated employee and friend to those of us at GRT, and to so many of our customers. Her contribution to our lives will always be appreciated. We will miss her.
We will be hosting a live Q & A session via Zoom on Wednesday April 14 at 7:00 PM EST. Company founder and President, Greg Toman will be demonstrating our EFIS systems as well as answering your questions.
