Re: EIS serial output

Hi Jeff,
A few additional questions about the data in the serial output stream:
1. I notice that the EIS has a "Serial In" line on Connector A. This is not hooked up in my aircraft, but I wonder if it is used for anything?
2. The data fields (ASPDH,ASPDL), (ALTH,ALTL), and ROCSGN imply that the EIS ...

Re: EIS serial output

The EIS Log data can be saved to a spreadsheet format. When you use File, Save As in the EIS Log program, use the file name extension ".csv". The data will be in the same order as in the program.

The EIS unit sends out data in a binary message, not a simple text format. If you would like to try ...

Autopilot switch subpanel

Sometimes, when getting re-routed a lot, or dodging storms, or on an especially complex approach during turbulence, I have wished for a separate set of buttons on the panel to select autopilot lateral and vertical mode (HDG, GNAV, ENAV, VS, IAS, etc.), instead of having to click the knob and push ...

Binary data in 'GRT Flight Data Log.CSV'

A few times in the last few months, during a flight, the data file with engine and flight data 'GRT Flight Data Log.CSV' has had what looks like binary data written to it. The binary data can be written to the file for over an hour, and then it stops and normal text logging of the engine and flight ...

AHRS invalid checksum

I have a dual HX with dual AHRS+Magnetometer. AHRS #2 is reporting invalid in the ARS Maintenance page and a bad checksum in the calibration page. I get this from either HX unit.

AHRS #1 is fine, and calibrated OK.

Should I attempt calibration of #2, or is further troubleshooting warranted ...

RPM Display N1/N2

My engine has one electronic ignition and one magneto. They are wired to the EIS RPM/N1 and RPM/N2 inputs, respectively. I have verified that both N1 and N2 data are recorded in the EIS data stream. Usually, the two data fields have the same number, but during start or other changes in RPM, the two ...
