I just returned from Oshkosh. During both the arrival and departure (we were lined up on a taxiway for about 20 minutes due to an incident), the audio Traffic alerts became a significant distraction and impeded the ability to clearly hear normal communication. During the arrival, with dozens of aircraft flying in close proximity, at or near the same altitude, the alerts were essentially continuous. The alerts in this situation provided NO useful information. In my estimation, once an audio traffic alert has been sounded, it has done its job because it draws attention to the map screen where the traffic is depicted. I would suggest there be way to reduce the frequency of the Traffic audio alerts or to suppress them altogether for some amount of time (i.e. 15, 30, 60 seconds), using a soft button similar to what is done with EIS alerts (EGT, CHT, etc.).
Thanks for your consideration.
