The first panel that I built for my RV6 in 2003 had what I thought was a full panel. Artificial Horizon, Turn/bank, alt., vsi, Stec Auto Pilot, nice Narco Radio package, etc. Then along about 2007 I decided that it was time to go the EFIS route and along comes Greg Reichter and Blue Mountain Avionics. I could not get the BMA to communicate with the Garmin 430, and then the folks @ Blue Mountain quite answering the phone. Next thing I find out Blue Mountain is out of business and I am out a lot of money and no support for my nice looking Blue Mountain EFIS. Sold the Blue Mountain Junk and bought the GRT HX system in 2011.

I was able to salvage the 2nd panel by cutting an overlay to fill the gap of the 10.25” Blue Mt. screen. Saved most of the wiring with the help of Carlos @ GRT. I now have a very capable 8.4” HX with EIS, GRT Auto pilot and servos, needless to say it works great. I also have the Nav Worx’s AdsB 600 which is great for weather and traffic. At the time I built the 2nd-3rd panel I installed a Garmin 496 with weather as a back up. I have since canceled my Sirus weather subscription @ $6/700 per year & this will pay for the ADSB600 in 3 years.

I love my GRT HX System with the very capable autopilot!
