SAP Depiction on MiniGA

Post by farmrjohn »

Will the SAP course and glide path information be displayed if the flight director is not selected?

Yes, the flight director is a completely separate function. The SAP mode by itself creates the boxes you fly through and updates the course and cross track indicators. The height above the runway is displayed as part of the flight path marker, which is enabled by default and configured in SET MENU, Primary Flight Display.

Ah, so you either need the Flight Director of the boxes selected, there is no independent course deviation indicator or glide path indicator?

The boxes are always turned on by SAP mode. You also get the cross track indicator on the GPS CDI (if enabled) and HSI once you capture the SAP course. SAP mode does not drive the yellow localizer/glideslope indicators.

Thanks. I have HTS turned off and haven't noticed the boxes with or without the flight director when the approach is captured. I think the "missed" soft key label must hide the GPS CDI and understand there is no separate glide path indication. It would be nice to have "raw data" displayed as a cross check to the flight director but it seems to work fine.
