Software Updates

Post by saybeengineering »

Hi Jeff:
Im in the process of updating my HXr from sofrware 7 to version 8.
I have done this in the past with previous versions. However, i have not been able To make it happen again. Here is what i have been doing:

I format a usb drive in a windows pc with fat32
I download the update and save it directly on the root directory, only the DAT file.
I inserted the usb directly in the back of the screen while it is OFF.
Power up the unit, and go to menu, display maintenance.
Check everything working and the status of the USB port.
Select load efis software, select yes for are you sure.
A message comes out that the DAT file is not located.

Tried it several times and different ports.

Any other suggestions of what can be going on over here?
Alternate format for formatting the USB drive!??

Thanks in advance!

Usually the problem is that your web browser has changed the name of the file by adding numbers and dashes or parentheses. Many browsers now automatically rename the file if they know you've downloaded a file with the same name before. Check the name of the HHXRUp.dat file on your drive. If it has any numbers, dashes, or parentheses in the name, such as HHXRUp-2.dat or HHXRUp(2).dat, rename the file to remove the extra characters. The older software can only see exactly HHXRUp.dat. If you don't see the .dat extension, that's OK, some computers hide it, so don't add or remove the .dat.
