EIS Audible Warning Beeps in HXr and how to change?

Post by VELOCITY-XLRG »

Happy New Year Jeff, Jon and All,

When I turn on my master (EIS comes to life), I am getting a VERY annoying and loud audible beeping (warning) that oil pressure is too low. How do I silence this or, since I have a separate annunciator system (Aerosafety Systems AH502) with visual and audible warnings, how do I disable it (or should I)?

**UPDATE** - I looked in the manual (when all else fails lol) and found how to turn off audio alerts, HOWEVER it did not work...it just still keeps chiming no matter what. I have 2-HXr's and an EX so I did this for all three, however the loud beeping continues.

PS: When I turn off the breaker to the GRT EIS, the beeping stops (this is how I know it is the EIS).

Screenshot of the page I am making and saving the changes to in the HXr General Setup/Audio menu...

If you hear a voice alert that says Oil Pressure as soon as you turn on power, that can't be the EFIS or EIS. The EFIS would have to boot all the way up before it can make any noise or play a voice alert.

The EIS has an audio output that beeps constantly when there's any active alarm on the EIS. For the remote EIS the only alarm is oil pressure. If you don't want its beeping alarm, then you have to disconnect the EIS audio wire. The EIS manual says this is pin 2 and typically a red/blue wire.

Thanks Jeff,

I will disconnect that hard programmed audio alert per your instructions.

Question: Since I have the AeroSafety Systems Annunciator System (pulls info from the HXr via the G3X format you programmed), which items should I have on and which off in that page shown in my screenshot?

The EFIS generates sounds for all of its alarms and plays voice alert audio files for some, plus it generates the AOA tones if you have that enabled. If you want any of that then you would have to keep them on in the EFIS. I don't know what your external annunciator adds to that and the EFIS doesn't control that. The only way to disable a specific EFIS audio voice message, like Oil Pressure if that's already handled by something else, would be to delete its audio file and reload them.
