OAT probe in lieu of Carb Temp
OAT probe in lieu of Carb Temp
I'm curious if there is any way to hook up an OAT probe on pin 6 of an EIS-4000 vs the Carb Temp probe that is shown on the diagram? I'm asking since I've used up all my AUX ports, and OAT is currently not in that mix. I've got a Long-EZ with the EIS mounted just forward of the firewall vs my EFIS up front, and am highly considering connecting my OAT probe off the EIS box if able. Thanks.
Re: OAT probe in lieu of Carb Temp
The EIS 4000 has an OAT probe input on pin 22. It has to be the type of OAT probe that we make. Technically, you can connect one of our OAT probes to the Carb Temp input, but you would only do that if you needed to monitor an additional temperature. The EFIS will automatically recognize a sensor on the OAT input of the EIS. The EFIS can't use the Carb Temp input as an OAT. Connecting an OAT probe to the OAT input on an EIS is a common way to get OAT data to an EFIS.
