My compliments on the Horizon 10.1 system! I'm in the Phase 1 flight test regime on my new RV-10 with a dual Horizon 10.1 system, and I'm very pleased.

I especially like the engine monitor with its customizable displays and detailed information available. I'm using percent power as my primary power instrument. I used the IO-540 power tables downloaded from the GRT website, and found them very accurate to my engine. The Specific Fuel Consumption display makes it really easy to lean the engine and verify performance numbers. I found leaning to 150 degrees rich of peak (Lycoming's published best power mixture) produced exactly 0.55 BSFC. And leaning to peak EGT (Lycoming's published best efficiency mixture) produced 0.41 to 0.43 BSFC. These values match exactly the charts published in the Lycoming manual, as did the measured fuel flow at these power settings.

As a practical result, the Horizon 10.1 display makes it possible to set very accurate engine performance numbers for any combination of manifold pressure and rpm. Set the desired power level, say 65%, then lean to the best efficiency BSFC.
