Supplying Aviation 9600 Baud Rate GPS data to ELT

New in 2019 this product is called the "10.1" after its screen size and is available in Horizon and Sport feature sets. This is not to be confused with an HXr although it shares similar features and graphics.

Supplying Aviation 9600 Baud Rate GPS data to ELT

Post by edstratford »

I am installing an ATEX 345 406 ELT. Mine can receive Aviation format GPS at 9600 Baud Rate with the RS-232 connection. (NMEA at 4800 Baud Rate can be configured before purchase). I connected it to the Horizon, but I currently have a TruTrak AutoPilot, so am using the the Autopilot (Aviation) 'role' for that and the Horizon will not allow the same role to be used in two different ports. I scrolled through all the other 'roles' as an option for output, but cannot find one that will deliver what I am hoping. Any options?

We don't have multiple Aviation outputs. You would have to splice the wire going to the TruTrak to send it to both.
