How to display density altitude on the EFIS.

New in 2019 this product is called the "10.1" after its screen size and is available in Horizon and Sport feature sets. This is not to be confused with an HXr although it shares similar features and graphics.

How to display density altitude on the EFIS.

Post by flyinlouis »

Hi, I have a Horizon 10.1 and a SPORT EX with the OAT probe connected to my EIS 4000.

Is there a way to have calculated density altitude shown on the EFIS?

Thanks for your help,
Louis

On the 10.1, the Density Altitude is displayed above "D-Alt" in the text data fields around the middle left of the ENG/MAP page (SCREEN, ENG/MAP). It can also be configured to show in any of the top left, combo inset, or PFD/PLATE data boxes using the Box settings in SET MENU, Graphical Engine Display.

On a Sport EX, the Density Altitude is displayed in the lower left corner of the full screen engine page as D ALT. It can also be configured to show on any of the user data boxes at the bottom of the full width PFD page. There are user data boxes on the left and right sides at the bottom of the PFD page and each one has 4 display fields. The left side defaults to waypoint information and the right side defaults to RPM and manifold pressure. If you want to show density altitude there, you would go to SET MENU, Primary Flight Display, and look to replace one of the data box entries starting at "Left Box, Upper Left Entry". Each one of those can be a label or a data value. Change it to "Data: Density Altitude" to show the density altitude there. That will not automatically change an adjacent label so if you want a label next to it, you would have to change the other field also, to "Label: D Alt". You don't have to use any labels if you can remember what they are. They can be all data fields.
